Welcome to Riverside!
Residency training is an exciting step in your medical career, and we are
happy that you are interested in General Surgery! The General Surgery
Residency Program received initial ACGME accreditation on January 18,
2018. In this five-year program, you will have every opportunity to grow
and develop in an environment rich in patient care, educational experiences,
and research opportunities. It will integrate a balance of university
academics and community clinical experience.
The surgical service will include a wide spectrum of surgical specialties
ranging from cardiac surgery, transplant surgery, level II trauma center,
minimally invasive surgery, bariatric surgery, surgical oncology, and
other surgical fields. Riverside Community Hospital’s emergency
room is considered one of the busiest in the state of California, thus
providing a wide variety of cases. The program and hospital possess strong
surgical clinical material for resident hiring.
The hospital is an Accredited Level II Trauma Center and Certified Primary
Stroke Center. It has residency programs in Internal Medicine, Family
Medicine, Emergency Medicine, Neurology and Transitional Year. Riverside
Community Hospital has Riverside County’s only Transplant Program,
performing more than 525 cases since their opening in 1996.
The Surgery Program will recruit Advanced level positions through NRMP.
Applications for PGYII and PGYIII positions will be considered outside
of the Match. Interviews will start on January 22, 2018 and will continue
until the day before the NRMP Rank date.
